| FIGHT CLUB

Fight Club is one example of my ongoing desire to both degrade and venerate the heroics of Hollywood movies. By utilizing the techniques of cinema in the simplest possible ways I hope to recreate narratives that are stripped of everything but the pathos inherent in the medium. I shoot, act, and edit alone to maintain the integrity of the inside place, the mind's eye where the drama lingers, absorbs, repeats. The economy of acting and shooting on my own satisfies my impulse to use whatever is on hand, to repurpose not only my body, but also props, costumes, and sets. The widespread availability and use of digital video technology and the intimacy of the medium nudges this project toward the self-conscious, DIY realm of amateur videomaking that is increasingly shared on the Web.
